Activity 17


Terry Fox




Terry Fox was famous. He raised $30 million for cancer research. He was born in North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Terry was a student at Simon Fraser University. Terry played basketball, but he became sick. He got cancer. Then, he decided to run across Canada, but he could not finish his trip. He died in 1981, but many people remember him now. I chose Terry Fox because he had incredible strength. He was tough.

Who Am I

My name is Jason Wesley Brown. I am an ESL instructor at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops. There are three people in my family including my wife Tomoko and my son Seiji. We live near the university, and we all leave for school together in the morning. Seiji and I like to watch sports like hockey, but Tomoko doesn't like to watch sports on televeision. She prefers to watch documentaries. Sometimes we all go skiing together, or we go to watch Seiji play hockey on Saturdays. My parents, brother and sisters live in Vancouver, but my parents and one sister will move to Kamloops soon. I am looking forward to having some family in Kamloops. I am enjoying my life in Kamloops for now.

Tourists see wild animals like bears in the wild in Canada.

The population of Kamloops is about 80,000 people.


Kamloops is located four hours north of Vancouver.


Kamloops is the most beautiful city in British Columbia.


Some people eat hamburgers and pizza in Kamloops.

I teach a level 1 writing class, and I teach a level 1 reading class.


I was born in Vancouver, but I live in Kamloops now.


I lived for eight years in Japan, and I lived for seven years in the United States.


I am married, and I have one son, Seiji.




My wife is Japanese, and my son was born in Japan.
